The Cosmic Bus Driver

Up with the sun, cup of coffee in hand
A wave to the dawn and he's on his way
His mind preoccupied with some "other" day plans
He travels this road nearly every day
And another school day will begin
As the Cosmic Bus Driver rides again

Hair hanging down across his back
Bush hat perched upon his head
When the day dawns cold he sports a Dr. Who scarf
And wishes that he could have stayed in bed
But another school day will begin
As the Cosmic Bus Driver rides again

And he sees the beauty in the morning haze
The colors in the morning sky
He plays with a thought of better days
And hopes Lady Luck hasn't passed him by

Adventure begins as the kids come aboard
Each a different shape and size
And he greets them all with a hearty hale
And you can see admiration in their shining eyes
Thus another school day will begin
As the Cosmic Bus Driver rides again

Snowdrifts to conquer, hills to climb
He and Mother Nature go 'round and 'round
But the offspring express usually rolls in on time
To deposit it's passengers safe and sound
And another school day will begin
As the Cosmic Bus Driver rides again

The year's been rough, his steed's lame and old
But it's his job, he takes it all in stride
While he dreams of fame and cities of gold
And yearns for the taste of a better life

The last bell rings, the crowd pours out
Filled with tales of things said and done
But he's on the last lap, he reverses the route
Knowing that soon, he can fin'ly go home
And another school day comes to an end
But the Cosmic Bus Driver will ride again
